It's been about a month since I've written but I have been so extremely busy I did not have much time to blog.
I never thought in one month I would cover so much political corruption. But that is exactly what is going on in the state of Alaska right now.
Alaska only has three Washington congressional delegates. Longtime Senator Ted Stevens. Former Governor Mukowski's daughter, Senator Lisa Murkowski. And longtime Representative Don Young. By now you might be familiar with the VECO bribery scandal up here. (If not here's my blogs about their official pleading guilty, and three former lawmakers being arrested.) Well last night we learned about this Wall Street Journal Article saying Stevens and Young are now caught up in the whole Feds VECO investigation. Here's our team coverage.
Then today a public watchdog group filed an ethics complaint against Senator Murkowski relating to her receiving a land bid from one of the state's most powerful lobbyists. Here's the June 16th TPMmuckraker.com article where the story originated.
This is after I spent two weeks earlier in the month covering another former lawmakers public corruption trial. A federal jury ended up convicting former Representative Tom Anderson for taking bribes in exchange for legislative favors. Here's adn.com article.
But it wasn't all serious. It's not too often I'd point you to my competitor. But you have to see what Channel 2 caught on tape after the Anderson verdict...and yes, it sort of has to do with me :).
